Hailing from Birmingham, UK, Becky is an ​
acclaimed Queer Filmmaker, Film Editor, Comedian ​
and Multidisciplinary Artist currently residing in ​
Toronto, Canada. After earning a degree in Film and
​Moving Image Production (BA with Honours) from ​
the Northern Film School, Leeds in 2014, Becky
then shifted her focus to live comedy where she
trained and performed in Improv and Sketch
Comedy for 8 years, performing at Melbourne ​
International Comedy Festival and various Fringe ​
Festivals. When Becky moved to Toronto in 2018, ​
she met many collaborators within the Toronto
Comedy scene and naturally transitioned her
comedy ​career back into her love of filmmaking,
with her ​comedic nature playing the most within film
editing.

Becky’s natural fascination of the human
condition teams up with her comedic
sensibilities; exploring how far we can
comedically push what is otherwise ‘everyday’
human emotions and interactions within the
character’s environments. It’s in the edit where
she loves bringing all elements of timing,
picture, sound and creative visuals to create
unique and absurdist worlds allowing an
audience to feel a strong sense of empathy and
relatability to the protagonist’s journey and
mind, allowing us to feel that we’re not really all
that different - especially in our darkest
moments. Becky is consistently developing her
practise, whether it be through her love of
comedy & cinema, working with a range of
storytellers & creatives and by simply living life.

Education & Training

family drama, and self-discovery.

Short Film - Three beer cart girls hatch a plan to
take advantage of the pretentious golfing guys;
everything is going smoothly until one bedazzled
golf ball goes rogue and lands our girls in some
serious trouble.

Short Film - Art Baby is an absurdist short,
exploring the relationship between fiction and
reality, and creative expression and privacy.

Short Film - Bird - a tone poem of sorts - Bird is a
coming of age short following Elise, who wakes up
to discover she’s had her first period. The film
plays with the passage of time set on a beautiful
summers day that soon will pass.

Short Film - Starry Eyed is a queer dark comedy
about a delusional romantic on a quest to reignite
an old flame. Blinded by love, the line between
romantic gestures and illegal ones becomes
blurred.

Short Film - Meg is tasked with writing her own
reference letter, naming all of her best qualities,
which ultimately brings out the worst in her.

Award Winning short which premiered on CBC and
CBC Gem in August, 2022 and played as a Proof
of Concept for ‘Everybody’s Meg’.
